Akhtars Legalitarian (“we”, “us”) runs this website at https://akhtarslegalitarian.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect through it, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and what rights you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. For personal data you give us through this website, we are the data fiduciary.

What we collect

  • Enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the type of matter you choose, and the message you write.
  • Calls, emails and WhatsApp messages: your contact details and whatever you tell us when you contact us directly.
  • Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
  • Analytics and advertising data: only if you agree to it through the cookie banner (see “Cookies” below).

Please do not send confidential documents or sensitive personal data through this website. Wait until we have agreed to act for you before sending case papers.

Why we use it

We use your details to read and answer your enquiry, to decide whether we can act for you, and to contact you about it. If you become a client, we use your details to provide legal services and to meet our legal and professional obligations. For the enquiry form, we rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box before you submit. We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we do not sell personal data.

Who we share it with

Only with those who help us run the website and handle enquiries: our website host, the service that delivers form submissions to us, and our email provider. They process data on our instructions. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to a court, regulator or authority. Some of these providers may process data outside India.

Third-party services on this website

  • Google Fonts supplies the website typeface. Your browser requests the font from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address.
  • Google Maps on the contact page loads only if you click “Load map”. Once loaded, Google may set cookies and receive your IP address.
  • WhatsApp: the chat button opens WhatsApp on your device. From then on, WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies to your messages.
  • Social media and share links take you to other sites that have their own policies.

Cookies

This website does not currently use analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies, so no cookie banner is shown. If we add them later, we will ask for your permission first, and you will be able to change or withdraw your choice at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. If you become a client, we keep your records for as long as the law and professional rules require. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

How we protect it

We limit access to people who need it and use reasonable security measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections on this website. No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

Under the Act you can ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it, ask us to correct or update it, ask us to erase it (unless the law requires us to keep it), and withdraw your consent at any time. You can also nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to do so. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before you withdrew it. To use any of these rights, write to our Grievance Officer below.

Children

This website is not meant for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian.

We aim to acknowledge your message within two working days and to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India as provided under the Act.

Language and changes

This policy is in English. If you would like it in another language listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India, write to us and we will make reasonable efforts to help. We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows when it last changed.
